Steve | Christians, Hitler, Same-Sex Marriage, Shel Bailey

I know this blog is focused on the Dead Fish Wrapper (aka the Oregonian), but I head something on a local radio program this morning so outrageous that I had to post it somewhere.

I was listening for a few minutes to 97.1 Charlie FM, when Charlie Girl (aka Shel Bailey) did a segment called Random News where they mention news stories from all over.  One of the stories she chose was about a protest staged by a Christian biker group in Iowa in regards to the draconian decision passed down by the Iowa Supreme Court that overturns the vote of the people and forces same-sex marriage on the state.  She started out with comments about how bikers aren't Christians, and Christians are supposed to be accepting. Then, she played a clip where one of the bikers said that he thought they had a valid point of view. Her comment after that was " Yeah, and Hitler thought his point of view was valid too."

Steve | Hate Crimes, Ignored Stories, OneNewsNow

One of the scarier trends over the past few years in legal issues has been hate crimes legislation.  To me, it's totally unnecessary, and is nothing more than liberal's way of silencing any opposition to them, bit by bit.  The reason it's such a crock is that if two people are murdered, one as a supposed "hate" crime and one for, say, money, the end result is the same; two people are dead.  It shouldn't matter why they were killed (assuming both were killed intentionally).  What's even worse about "hate" crimes is how one sided they are.  If a homosexual or other minority is murdered, then it's almost always automatically considered a hate crime if it's committed by a straight, white person.  However, if it's the other way around, then mysteriously, all cries of "hate crime!" are silenced.  Here's a perfect example.

Steve | Barrack Obama, India, Newsbusters, Pakistan, Warner Todd Huston

I saw this article today and just had to post it.  You know this is something the Fish Wrapper would never report on, because it might tell the truth about Obama.  As reported by Warner Todd Huston:

Naturally, the U.S. media is following the terrorist crimes in Mumbai, India, as well they should. But, the attacks seem to be the Old Media's only interest where it concerns India and Pakistan, of late, for they've completely ignored the several mistakes that Barack Obama has already made with his attempts at foreign policy with the two embattled nations.

Back on November 11, I noted that Obama had made his first mistakes with both India and Pakistan by mishandling early talks with their leaders (or not having them at all, as the case may be). During his first major effort to contact foreign leaders as president elect, Obama called Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari but neglected to call India's Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. This short shrifting did not sit well with the Indian government.

Then, Obama appointed to his transition team a woman named Sonal Shah whom the Pakistanis say has ties with a violent Hindu Nationalist Party in India that they claim is responsible for a rampage in Gujarat, India that killed many Muslims and Christians.
Steve | Global Warming, Ignored Stories, Newsbusters, Tom Blumer

Yeat another screw-up in calculating temperature by the global warming hypesters that the Fish Wrapper (and the rest of its cohorts in the MSM) will ignore.  As reported by Tom Blumer at Newsbusters:

Earlier today, Christopher Booker at the UK Telegraph noted a "surreal scientific blunder," followed by an attempted cover-up, that should cause everyone to question the source's past and future credibility.

The source of the shoddy work is NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the outfit run by world champion globalarmist James Hansen. Hansen has in the past stated that "heads of major fossil-fuel companies who spread disinformation about global warming should be 'tried for high crimes against humanity and nature.'"

What Booker reports causes one to wonder what the appropriate punishment should be for committing drop-dead obvious errors and integrity-lacking follow-up.

Part of the punishment is surely the Telegraph's delicious headline, followed by Booker's criticism (bolds are mine):

Steve | Barack Obama, Ignored Stories, Washington Post

A good article at Hot Air about more of Obama's lies told during the campaign:

To put the old song on its ear, everything new is old again. Remember when Barack Obama said this?
To rousing applause, Barack Obama formally announced this afternoon that the Democratic National Committee will follow his lead and begin refusing donations from registered lobbyists and special-interest political action committees. “They do not fund my campaign,” the presumptive Democratic nominee told a small-town southwest Virginia crowd, after delivering a standard refrain that blames drug and insurance interests for blocking universal health care. “They will not fund our party. And they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I’m President of the United States.”

They may not have funded his campaign, although that’s highly questionable, but the Washington Post reports that they’ll be running his government. Obama has tapped a number of lobbyists for high-profile positions in the transition team, and most of them will likely end up with significant leadership roles in the coming Obama administration:

Barack Obama campaigned on a pledge to change Washington, vowing to upend the K Street lobbying culture he encountered when he joined the U.S. Senate. But more than a dozen members of President-elect Obama’s fast-growing transition team have worked as federally registered lobbyists within the past four years. They include former lobbyists for the nation’s trial lawyers association, mortgage giant Fannie Mae, drug companies such as Amgen, high-tech firms such as Microsoft, labor unions and the liberal advocacy group Center for American Progress. Mark Gitenstein, one of the 12 transition board members who will play a significant role in shaping the Obama administration, worked on million-dollar lobbying contracts with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and promoted legislation for giant defense contractors Boeing and General Dynamics. Until this fall, he was registered to petition Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission on behalf of AT&T, Merrill Lynch, KPMG, Ernst & Young and others. Gitenstein has blue-chip credentials for the volunteer role on the Obama team. He was chief Democratic counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee during confirmation hearings for controversial Supreme Court nominee Robert H. Bork; was a close adviser to Vice President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s White House bid; and served as counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Steve | Barack Obama, Ignored Stories, Joe Biden

I saw this today and just had to put up a quick post, just because the Fish Wrapper editors would live in fear of ever reporting on something like this, much less ask a tough question of a liberal. As reported by P.J. Gladnick:

"Are you joking?"

"I don't know who's writing your questions."

Those were two of the angry responses by Joe Biden to a couple of tough questions posed by Barbara West on Orlando's WFTV. You can get an idea of just how upset Biden was by reading the title of of this account of the heated interview: "Obama campaign cuts off WFTV after interview with Joe Biden." Here are the observations of what happened from the Orlando Sentinel blog of Hal Boedeker the TV Guy:

Steve | Global Warming, Ignores Stories, John Tierney, Michale Goldfarb, National Review, New York Times

From Michael Goldfarb at the Weekly Standard:

Another classic from the Tierney Lab:

If only the masses could understand the science of global warming, they’d be alarmed, right? Wrong, according to the surprising results of a survey of Americans published in the journal Risk Analysis by researchers at Texas A&M University.

Steve | Daily Tech, Global Warming, Ignored Stories, Michael Asher

Here's a story you won't see in the Fish Wrapper any time soon: Temperature Monitors Report Widespread Global Cooling (yes, you read that correctly):

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

Steve | Abortion, British Telegraph, Ignored Stories

From Noel Shepard at Newsbusters. Something the Dead Fish Wrapper (or anyone else in the MSM) would never dream of printing.

The British Telegraph ran a truly gut-wrenching article Friday about an artist that hanged herself in England a few weeks ago because she couldn't bear the fact that she had aborted her twins.

Be forewarned: anyone on either side of the abortion debate who reads this piece will do so with tears in his or her eyes.

After your emotions for this poor woman pass, ask yourself whether our pro-abortion press would handle this story with the reverence and respect the Telegraph did (h/t NBer saw the light):
