Health Care Reform

Ignored Story: House Healthcare Bill Will Increase Costs By $289 Billion According To CMS

Here's yet another story on the staggering cost of the health care fiasco that was passed in the House by Nancy Pelosi et all last week; it would increase costs by $289 billion.

The House-approved healthcare overhaul would raise the costs of healthcare by $289 billion over the next 10 years, according to an analysis by the chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CMS report is a blow to the White House and House Democrats who have vowed that healthcare reform would curb the growth of healthcare spending. CMS's analysis is not an apples-to-apples comparison to the cost estimate conducted by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) because CMS did not review tax provisions, which help offset the price tag of the Democrats' measure.

For The Dead Fish Wrapper, Abortion Is A Civil Right

As anybody who hasn't been living under a rock for the past 40 years know, abortion is one of the most sacred cows of the liberal left and the Oregonian (but I repeat myself).  Any restrictions on abortions cause murderous screams of anger from the left, because they can't stand to have someone tell them they can't murder their unborn children.  There isn't much gray area there.  This screaming and anguish is continued in the editorial from Novermber 9th, and the title says it all: "An unacceptable cutback in access to abortion".

Health care reform should not be pursued as a mission so impossible that it justifies restricting women's access to abortion.

That, however, is exactly what the House did Saturday night in passing the most significant health care overhaul in 44 years. The legislation was historic, but at what price? It was amended at the last minute with antiabortion provisions so restrictive that they would undermine the civil rights of American women.

Seniors Should Worry About Obamacare, But Don't Count On The Dead Fish Wrapper To Tell You

Although Obama and the Dems continue to deny it, health care rationing really is a concern with Obamacare, and seniors should be the most concerned.  As reported in the Wall Street Journal:

Elderly Americans are turning out in droves to fight ObamaCare, and President Obama is arguing back that they have nothing to worry about. Allow us to referee. While claims about euthanasia and "death panels" are over the top, senior fears have exposed a fundamental truth about what Mr. Obama is proposing: Namely, once health care is nationalized, or mostly nationalized, rationing care is inevitable, and those who have lived the longest will find their care the most restricted.
