Dead Fish Wrapper Ignores Biden Remarks Because He's A Democrat

True to form, the Fish Wrapper, continues it's history of ignoring comments made by a liberal Democrat that would be front page news if they were made by a Republican.

The comments this time were made by Joe Biden, Democrat senator from Delaware. In an interview with the New Yorker magazine, he said

"You got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

This was the same man, who said last June:

“You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

As is typical, the MSM has been downplaying this ever since it first came out this week.

Now, let's ask a few questions (as asked by Mark Finkelstein). If these had been made by a Republican:

  • Which paper would be first to call for the Republican's withdrawal from the race: the NY Times, Boston Globe, WaPo, other?
  • How soon until Jesse Jackson, Carol Moseley-Braun and Al Sharpton turned up on TV to be asked how they felt about being insulted in this way?
  • How many hours of MSM musing over the GOP's "history of racial insensitivity"; how many replays of Trent Lott making his statement about Strom Thurmond, of George Allen's 'macaca' moment, etc., would we be subjected to over the ensuing week?
  • How long until the hapless Republican did indeed withdraw from the race?

And how much space would the Fish Wrapper be devoting to this "story"? At least a front page article, if not more. But what do we get in this case? One small piece from an AP wire, at the bottom of page A2 under the title of "The Buzz" about how Biden was chastised on Al Sharpton's radio program for his comments.

But hey, it's not as fun to publish the truth when it hurts a Democrat, is it?
