IPCC Claim of Rising Sea Levels Retracted - Will The Oregonian Report It?

Nature Geoscience, a scientific journal, issued a retraction on February 21st about a claim made in the famous joke that was the 2007 IPCC report that sea levels would rise by 18cm-59cm by 2100.  As reported by the Guardian (notice once again it's a British newspaper, not a US paper).

Scientists have been forced to withdraw a study on projected sea level rise due to global warming after finding mistakes that undermined the findings.

The study, published in 2009 in Nature Geoscience, one of the top journals in its field, confirmed the conclusions of the 2007 report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It used data over the last 22,000 years to predict that sea level would rise by between 7cm and 82cm by the end of the century.

Chief "Climategate" Scientist Admits No Warming Since 1995 - Where Is The Oregonian?

Back in November, servers at the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University in England, ground central for scientists intent on proving that catastrophic global warming is happening and is man-caused (as compared to going wherever the science leads), were hacked, and thousands of emails were made public.  A number of things were revealed by this data, primary among them that

  • The data does NOT show increased warming
  • The scientists did everything they could - including manipulating the data (like Penn State's Michael Mann's "hiding the decline") - to hide this fact

The chief "scientist" at CRU was Phil Jones.  Once this information was made public, he was forced to step down from his position at East Anglia pending an inquiry into the emails and the fraud it revealed.  Since that time, other major problems with the famed IPCC report - of which Jones was a major contributor - that claims that the world is warming and it's all man's fault have been exposed.  For example:

Hiding Yet Another IPCC Screwup - North African Food Production Shortfall Claim Is Bogus

Here's another example of how foreign press will cover the disaster that is the Global Warming hype machine and how the movement continues to melt down because of outright lying and manufacturing of data, but the U.S. media will cover it up because it doesn't fit their agenda.

It’s not just the threat of Himalayan glaciers disappearing by 2035.

By the way, that reference is to a claim made in the famous IPCC report that the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035.  The UN eventually issued a retraction, which was, of course ignored by the US media.

Now another headline grabbing IPCC scare story is melting away.  A report in Sunday’s London Times highlights new humiliations for the IPCC.

The most important is a claim that global warming could cut rain-fed north African crop production by up to 50% by 2020, a remarkably short time for such a dramatic change. The claim has been quoted in speeches by Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC chairman, and by Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general.

Editors Walk Out On Any Logic About Global Warming

The Fish Wrapper editors have shown in the past that they like to follow lock-step with the global warming/climate change hysteria/religion, and they continue their path with the latest editorial perpetuating the global warming hype, "Walking Out on Global Warming".

The main thrust of the editorial is that as usual, the U.S. needs to be a leader in climate change legislation that would trash our economy while major polluters such as Inda and China continue growing their economies.  And, of course, if we don't, the world will come to an end because of climate catastrophes.

The whole world saw a jarring, embarrassing contrast in leadership this week: There was German Chancellor Angela Merkel addressing a joint session of the Congress and pleading for U.S. action to combat climate change "in the interest of our children and grandchildren."

And there were Republican senators shunning a key committee meeting on climate change, literally walking away from their responsibilities to address the greatest environmental challenge facing the world.

Fish Wrapper Ignores Obama Administration Suppressing EPA Report

As reported by Noel Sheppard:

The day before the House was to vote on a controversial energy bill destined to be the largest tax hike in American history, it was revealed that the Environmental Protection Agency had suppressed an internal report challenging the entire global warming myth. Despite the importance of this study, and how it related to a debate about to ensue on the House floor, its existence and suppression went almost completely ignored by America's media. This, of course, comes in stark contrast to regular and frequent news reports in previous years accusing the Bush White House of intentionally censoring the science of climate change.

"Surreal Scientific Blunder" in Global Warming Hype Machine

Yeat another screw-up in calculating temperature by the global warming hypesters that the Fish Wrapper (and the rest of its cohorts in the MSM) will ignore.  As reported by Tom Blumer at Newsbusters:

Earlier today, Christopher Booker at the UK Telegraph noted a "surreal scientific blunder," followed by an attempted cover-up, that should cause everyone to question the source's past and future credibility. The source of the shoddy work is NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the outfit run by world champion globalarmist James Hansen. Hansen has in the past stated that "heads of major fossil-fuel companies who spread disinformation about global warming should be 'tried for high crimes against humanity and nature.'"What Booker reports causes one to wonder what the appropriate punishment should be for committing drop-dead obvious errors and integrity-lacking follow-up.Part of the punishment is surely the Telegraph's delicious headline, followed by Booker's criticism (bolds are mine):

Global Warming: The More You Know, The Less You Care

From Michael Goldfarb at the Weekly Standard:

Another classic from the Tierney Lab:

If only the masses could understand the science of global warming, they’d be alarmed, right? Wrong, according to the surprising results of a survey of Americans published in the journal Risk Analysis by researchers at Texas A&M University.

Global Cooling Taking Place, In Direct Contradication To Daily Dead Fish Wrapper Hype

Here's a story you won't see in the Fish Wrapper any time soon: Temperature Monitors Report Widespread Global Cooling (yes, you read that correctly):

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

Global Warming "Greatest Scam In History"

If the founder of the Weather Channel spoke out in favor of the global warming hype, do you think the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper would publish it?  Heck, they'd be all over it like sticky on tape.  But, since John Coleman, the founder of the Weather Channel has come out against the hype, you can be certain it will be ignored.
