Being Overwhelmed With Useless IPCC Study On Global Warming

Now that the next part of the IPCC study has come out, the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper has been doing its best to overwhelm its readers with dire news about global warming. Just a brief search on the Fish Wrapper site for the term "IPCC" brings up 17 different AP articles about the useless study and all the politics behind the scenes.

Here are some of the articles:

Fish Wrapper Twists Court Ruling To Fit Global Warming Hype Agenda

The editors of the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper are at it again on one of their favorite topics, global warming. In today's editorial, they also employ the usual tactic of twisting an event to suit their pre-determined opinion. In this case, the title "The air clears on climate change" is very misleading because it applies to a case about the regulatory powers of the EPA.

The purpose of the article is the recent Supreme Court ruling in a case where the issue was whether the EPA had the authority to regulate carbon dioxide emissions. According to the title, you would think that the ruling provided definitive scientific evidence of anthropogenic global warming (and exactly when was the last time that judges were scientific experts?). Instead, it was just 12 states getting the liberal wingnuts of the Supreme Court to go along with them and try to force the administration to hamstring our economy.

Ignoring The Truth About The Failure Of Carbon Credits

In their haste to beat of the anthropogenic global warming drum, the Fish Wrapper editorial board likes to claim that certain ideas will work without bothering to investigate whether or not what they claim is true.

Today's example of this tendency has to do with what is known as carbon credits. In their editorial on an agreement between Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, and New Mexico to "work together to reduce the greenhouse gases linked to global warming," the Fish Wrapper makes the usual inaccurate and unsubstantiated claims that greenhouse gas emissions are the cause of global warming.

Krugman and Fish Wrapper Ignore Realities Of Global Warming Debate

Paul Krugman of the New York Times is usually so far off the deep end that it's not worth wasting breath on him. However, his column (originally published as a pay-per-view column on the Times site on 2/23) on global warming and California gives a good example of a method liberals use to attempt to stifle any attempt to disagree with them.

The article is about California, and how several policies that it has in place has caused a decrease in per capita energy consumption. Knowing Krugman and how he tends to twist facts to suit his point of view, I'm sure there are a number of factual errors in the piece, but I haven't had time to research them yet.

Fish Wrapper Ignores Story About Kulongoski And His Liberal Intolerance

The liberal left continues to show its "tolerance" for opposing views on the topic of global warming, but this time, the Fish Wrapper chooses to ignore it. As initially reported on the KGW web site and picked up nationally by Drudge and Newsbusters, our do-nothing governor Teddy has once again demonstrated how two faced liberals can be.

As with the Fish Wrapper, the KGW article was slanted against Taylor:

Another Skeptic Of Human-Caused Global Warming To Be Ignored

Now that the IPCC's politicized summary has proclaimed the global warming is man made, more and more scientists with impeccable credentials are speaking out against the idea that it's all mankind's fault.

Timothy Ball, a climatologist from Canada, writes in today's Canadian Free Press about the media hysteria surrounding global warming.

Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was the first Canadian Ph.D. in Climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and was a climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. For some reason (actually for many), the World is not listening. Here is why.

Global Warming Stories You Won't See In The Dead Fish Wrapper

As has been made nauseatingly obvious for a while now, the Fish Wrapper, in their continuing quest to present the only side of any story that is favorable to their liberal view, continues to beat the drum of human caused global warming. As such, you will never see them publish any story that presents the opposing view. It is therefore my duty to present these stories to demonstrate how one sided the Fish Wrapper is, especially on this topic (hat tip to Newsbusters in both cases).

The first story is about Dr. Nir Shaviv, an Israeli astrophycisist who has been doing research for years trying to determine if there is a direct correlation between rising levels of CO2 and rising temperatures. His studies suggest otherwise, leading him to recant his original position on the subject:

Fish Wrapper Continues Hype About Global Warming With IPCC Study

As was to be expected, the Dead Fish Wrapper joined the frenzy that the rest of the MSM is in about the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which basically blames human activity for the supposed increase in temperature otherwise known as global warming.

But one article wasn't enough. In addition to the front page headline that screamed "Life as we know it gets blame for global warming", there was also a half page article on page A6 entitled "Global warming's runaway train" that was clips from wire reports about how scientists and lawmakers are talking about polar bears, grennhouse gas emissions, and the Great Barrier Reef among other things.

Another Biased Story Favoring Global Whining (Warming) Proponents

Today's display of liberal bias by the Dead Fish Wrapper has to do with that favorite liberal topic of Global Warming. The tool for displaying it is an article about a debate on global warming.

Tonight at OMSI, George Taylor and Philip Mote will debate global warming and its causes. Taylor is the head of the Oregon Climate Service, and Mote is the state climatologist in Washington state.

Tha article actually starts out pretty evenhanded.

The Global Warming Hype Continues, And This Time It Will Destroy The West

As much as the Fish Wrapper editors try to deny it, their liberal bias - especially towards the topic of global warming - is evident every day in the columns they choose to run. Today's exhibit is an opinion piece by Anatol Lieven of the New America Foundation.

The basis for the article is the report issued by Sir Nicholas Stern, Head of the British Government Economics Service on the economics of climate change. According to this report, climate change "is the greatest and widest-ranging market failure ever seen." I won't waste time debunking it, since that has aleady been done superbly by Christopher Monckton of the British paper the Telegraph here and here. I would instead just like to point out the typical liberal faulty beliefs that permeate the article.
